EmpireOnline have posted some exciting news regarding The Hunger Games movie.

Lionsgate has announced that it will bring dystopia to a whole new movie audience, by picking up the movie rights to best-selling teen novel The Hunger Games, by Suzanne Collins.

Collins will adapt her own book for the screen... this is going to rock!

Read the whole article here. Okay HG fans.. what are your thoughts on this? I'm excited and intrigued. I posted a film wishlist a while ago, and I'm happy to say that one third of my wish seems to be coming true! Now, which actors are right to play Katniss and Peeta?! Hmm...

I'm still not sure about it. It worked so well as a book there's lots I can't see transitioning well to the big screen. On the other hand, it could be amazing!

That is SUPERB news. Especially since Collins will be doing the work. Which means it will be how its meant to be, no fluff, no taking out important scenes, or favorite scenes. I am thrilled and OMG sooooo excited!

Thank you!

Ooh, this is going to be hard to get a film as good as the book but I'm looking forward to see if they can pull it off!

I'm nervous...it's such a great book! I do feel a little better because Collins will do the adaptation. But...I'm still nervous!

I think it will be really great as long as they get the characters and everything just right.

If they do this right it will be a fabulous movie, but the vital thing will be casting the characters properly I think, which seems to go wrong in everything else =) its really good that Collins will actually be involved in the film

I think Lucas Till would make a brilliant Peeta

This will be a good movie for casting because the characters features are very vague. So i am excited to see who plays each character. It will be a really cool movie and i think it would be hard to mess this one up.

I'm nervous. The Hunger Games did really well as a book, but if a movie were to be made of it, plenty of adjustments have to made.
A lot of the book spends time explaining the concepts of their way of life, Katniss' thoughts as well as previous experiences.
There are plenty of opportunities to mess this one up. I just pray they don't.
