US Vs. UK: Looking For Alaska Covers

US // UK

Once again, I'm torn between these two covers, as I like different aspects of each. I love the 'First Friend...' text from the UK one, and I love the image of the candle from the US one. If you could put those together, that would make my perfect book cover.

I have to mention that the UK cover is made of really weird stuff, and I'm not sure what it is. The text stands out well, but, unfortunately, you can't see that from a picture.

Looks like it's another undecided week for me. Hmm... how about you?

I love that UK cover! I'm surprised they didn't put the Prinz award seal on it - does that have no bearing in the UK?

Definitely a hard choice. I agree that by combining the font from the UK and the candle from the US you would have the perfect cover (= I haven't read the book so I don't know which cover is more appropriate.

If I had to choose I'd go with the US one though.

I have the US version, but when I saw the UK version in the shops I wanted it! Hmm, yes, I definitely prefer the UK version.

usually i have a very clear favorite but this one is so hard. I think the UK has a slight edge for me but I could change my mind in 2 minutes bc i love them both.

The US cover looks mysterious, whereas the UK cover looks friendlier, and slightly foreboding when you read the "Last words" part.

I like the "first friend, first girl, last words" part of the UK cover, but overall I like the mysteriousness of the US one better. Have you seen the US cover of the paperback reprint? There's some girl who looks like she's swishing her hair in a snowstorm or something. Ugh. Give me my smoke anytime! I'm so glad I have this in the original paperback. :)

I agree with you, they'd look great together!

I like the US cover better, but I love the font on the UK cover. This is such a good book. Total fangirl sign for John Green!

I like the US version. The hardback and the old paperback. They just put a new cover on it (not the one in the pics there) that I dont like.

Definitely the US version. No question in my mind :)

I agree, we should combine the two to get a perfect cover! The UK text with the US candle smoke. That picture is so perfect! I love the smell of just-blown-out candle!

Tough call! I like the US version, but the UK would've dandy if that was the only one available - it is definitely a cute cover!

I have to read this book still! Argh!

Ahhh, I don't know. I like them both, but maybe the smoke suits the book better, doesn't it? I'd love to also know which one we'll get here in Canada. It can be a bit odd, lol.

That's weird! I had the impression there was a new US cover for Looking for Alaska:

I'd definitely have to opt for the new US if it was a comparison between that and the UK cover :)
