US // UK
I've never read Speak (no, I'm not joking, unfortunately), though after reading Wintergirls, it is now high on my list of books to buy. I wandered off to Amazon UK to buy a copy, where I was met with one of the worst book covers I have ever seen. I hate everything about it; from the colours to the title font to the strange shapes and angles. Eurgh.
This week's vote is definitely going to the US version, and I refuse to buy this book until I can get hold of an American copy. I really hope I'm not alone on this!

Agreed UK cover is ugly, but what's more important—what's on front or what's inside? Don't deprive yourself—get a copy!
I do prefer the US cover over all, though I do think if the UK cover sorted out it's colours and font, it's heading in a better direction. The image itself gives more of an idea about the mood of the book, I think.
Hahaha oh dear. That's a shockingly unattractive UK cover. Will it be easy for you to get your hand on a US copy? If not, I'd be more than willing to find one and mail it to you, because I'm such a fan of the US one (and it's a good book! Shame on you for never having read it!). Just email me, my friend! :)
Don't feel bad, I haven't read it either. I did win a copy from Lenore and I'm really excited to sit down and read it. And I have to say I prefer the US cover!!
P.S. An award awaits you here:

Well I actually think it's okay. It's just not as good as other UK covers I've seen, and a lil creepy I may add. I love the US cover, I hope you'll get a copy soon. I've not had a chance to read this book so tell me what you think : D
Woah! The UK cover is sooo bad! Ah!
Don't let it stop you though, the book is amazing!
Oh good heavens, the UK version is awful!
I read the US copy, because I was living in the States when this came out, and I loved it so much. I can't imagine it with that UK cover. Aaah, it's an amazing book.
American is better but both arent fantastic
I think I might have to read a Laurie Halse Anderson book. Everybody seems to love them!
I've never read this either actually but I actually kind of like the UK version.
I haven't read Speak before either. I agree with you, the US version is definietly better!
By the way, I've given you an award:

Erm, I actually really don't like the US version and think the UK one is better. It's a more interesting idea, even if the purple wasn't the best idea.
I like the US cover better.
Ew. Definitely the US version!
Ick on the UK version. I LOVE the US version. I haven't read it but basing the cover to the title I think it fits perfectly. I just won Wintergirls and I've heard that I'm going to love that book and want to read all of this authors books....
Great post!
Okay, maybe I'm nuts, but I like the UK cover. I have the US cover, though, but the leaves are silver and shiny 'cause it's a 10th anniversary copy. (And I haven't read it yet, either, too many overdue library books.)
I prefer the UK, though I really just don't get or like either of these covers to be honest. I think they're kind of ugly =/
Thier both ugly but the Uk one wins.
