US Vs. UK: Spells Covers

US // UK

I'm not a huge fan of the UK covers for this series, as I think they make it look a little bit too young (at least, I thought that with Wings). The US covers appeal to me more because of their colours and title font, and the fact they use real images.

That's not to say I wouldn't buy the UK copy, because I would. It just wouldn't be my first choice. What do you guys think?

I wouldn't buy either - am shocked by how poorly Wings was written. I couldn't even bring myself to finish it. To me it felt like a case of jumping on the bandwagon to get another fairy story out there to cash in on Melissa Marr and Carrie Ryan and Holly Black's popularity.

See I'm the exact opposite. I think that the UK covers are far, far better. There's something magical about them.
But maybe that's because I do think that the Wings series is meant for younger teens, and not the older YA audience.

I posted a comment, but it didn't show up. I'm in the same group with Liz. I didn't like the book (couldn't finish it), and definitely found it to be more middle grade as opposed to YA.

However, the covers are very nice.

I haven't read the other book, but I rather like the UK cover myself.

The UK cover as it jumps out at me way more!

I love the UK covers. It shows that the books are magical and for the younger crowd. :) I'm actually NOT a fan of the US covers.

I actually like both covers!

I like the UK cover. It like the tones of the blues.

The UK covers are far superior. The sparkles hint at magic and they're pretty to look at :) Haven't read WINGS yet but I've got it on the shelf. I'm open minded about it.

I think they both look like they belong on my nannas book shelf, or maybe a tea cosy?

I much prefer the US covers and I agree that the UK ones look like they're directed at a younger audience. I can't wait to read Spells, though!

Well, the US cover is pretty... but it doesn't look like a fantasy novel to me. It looks more like romance.

However, I wouldn't put much stock in Stephenie Meyer's opinion on what is considered good writing, so I probably wouldn't buy the UK version if I saw it, either.

I'm torn. I loved the US cover for Wings, and although the US Spells cover has the same theme going on it's a little 'grandma's wallpaper' for my tastes. I think the UK one is nice enough but it does look very young. Not loving either really.

I do agree it seems young but I really don't like the US one for spells. Maybe I would feel different if I actually saw it. I loved the US cover for wings though - much much more than the UK one:)

I don't love either one but if I had to choose a favorite I'd pick the UK cover.

I like the UK version better. I really don't like the US cover and I'm not sure why. I think the shape of the flowers throw me somehow.

Uk all the way! I bought Wings in that style too, so I would love to get this one in the same style. :)

US, definitely! Very sparkly-pretty (:

I haven't read Wings yet, though I bought it, like, last year. But I definitely prefer the UK covers (: I like them though they are a little child-ish x)

For this one I'd go for the UK version, but the Dutch covers of this series are soooo good! Seriously, just look for them on google, perfect in almost every way.

Sorry for reacting this late, I see this one was posted one and a half year ago x)
