Crescendo Week: US Vs. UK Covers

US // UK

I know the differences between these covers aren't huge, but they're noticeable enough to grab my attention. I'm not quite sure why the US and UK publishers decided to make these small tweaks, but I think it works.

I much prefer the placing and size of the title on the UK edition, as it definitely stands out more, and gives the lightning a bigger part to play. These covers end up like small works of art, so the more I can see the better. I think I also prefer the lighter colour scheme of the UK copy, though I'm having a hard time deciding. The darker shade of the US cover probably fits the tone of the book more, though maybe it fits into that whole paranormal romance stereotype a little too well. What do you guys think?

Aside from what I've mentioned above, the only other thing I have an opinion on is Nora's closeness. I think the US got it right with having her take up her side of the cover, with no empty space around her. No idea why, I just like it!

So, over to you: who wins?

UK. But I think I prefer the title placement and that Nora is more on the edge of the cover on the US one.

I think I'm going to have to go with the UK on this one. Like the color and font placement better though I do see what you mean about the closeness of Nora for the US one.

They're pretty similar but I think I prefer the UK one because it's just brighter and better, I guess.

I like the UK one - not just because of the title placement (which is definitely much better) but because I like that little extra space on Nora's right. I think it makes her look more vulnerable and lonely.

Hmm, I don't know. I like how the lightning is sharper on ours, but I like the darkness of the US one.

For some reason I'm tending towards the US as my favourite. I think it's because it's darker and therefore has a 'moodier' feel. I agree about the placement of Nora too.

I like the darkness of the US cover but overall prefer the UK because it bothers me a touch the way the title breaks into the lightning bolt on the US version. Regardless, HUSH, HUSH rocked and can't wait to read CRESCENDO!

I'm leaning towards the UK version but I'm Irish, so it was probably marketed towards someone just like me. The US one has it merits though. It looks just that little bit different/edgy, so it might actually stand out better on a shelf. Either way, they're just gorgeous. The very best of luck with it.

Ooh. What subtle differences. It has to be the UK cover for me. I don't much care for the darker cover and I like seeing the lightning bolt fully.

I like the placement of the title for UK, because it gives the lightning more space, HOWEVER, I would overall prefer the US one because the fact that it is basically black and white means that the falling feather has more emphasis and symbolism. It is red whereas everything else is colourless, therefore it draws attention, and sort of shows how Nora is letting Patch go.
