US Vs. UK: The Gathering Covers

US // UK

I've never read one of Kelley Armstrong's YA books, though I've always liked the covers. I'm looking forward to reading The Gathering but, and apologies to Atom for this, I really don't like the UK cover. It's ever so slightly better in person, but it's not for me at all. In fact, I don't think I'd even look twice at it on a shelf. It looks so disjointed and weird - what's going on with it? I like the idea of an image within an image, though I don't think it's worked here.

I don't overly love the US cover either, though I'd go for it over ours in a heartbeat. I like the colouring and the angle of the model's pose, plus the placement of the title and author name is spot on. I think it'll be a great read, and that's what's most important at the end of the day.

What do you guys think? Am I alone in my UK cover puzzlement?

US, definitely! The UK one looks like the artist's kid got hold of the mouse, moved a few things around and he couldn't be bothered to change them... XD

No I definitely agree. The UK one looks a little odd! =/

I like the UK one, but it is a little odd. I'm not a huge fan of the US one either! The blue is...odd too. But you should definitely read KA's (YA) books!! They are awesome!

Like you, I don't love either cover, but if I had to pick, I'm going with the US cover on this one too!

While I don't think that either is brilliant, I'm going with UK - at least it's different and looks like the artist thought about it for 2 sec. And I love green. The US one looks like about a million other covers out there.

The UK one is a bit strange, it looks like a tattoo, but I do like the colours and the lighter feel of it compared to the US one.

I love the concept of the UK cover, but I think they chose a weird angle for the woman in the foreground. And it's kinda strange they put her inside the cut-out, too. The US is kind of generic, but I think I like it better. I'd be more likely to pick up the UK book, though.

Definitely agree. I loved The Darkest Powers series I'm looking forward to reading the book...but not to having the creepy cover on my shelf...

Yeah the US cover is way nicer! Although neither of them are particularly appealing...

I don't really like either. The UK one looks amateurish, and the strand of hair on the US model's cheek is bugging the heck out of me. Doesn't that tickle?

The UK cover would have looked better if there had been only one girl on the cover! Now it looks kind of weird. I still like it more than the US cover though!

The images look disconnected in UK version :(

I like the UK one for sure!

To be honest, I'm not a fan of either covers. But I'd go for the UK version. The blue color on the US cover just isn't working for me.

Neither of the covers are nice, but if I had to choose it would the US version. The UK version looks like a children's contest entry (and it lost).

This is so cool! I am going to start this meme on my book blog too. Brilliant idea!

The US one slightly edges it for me - I'm not really a fan of the UK cover to be honest and I like the blues of the US one.

I have to agree with you - the U.S. cover is a bit more attractive. I do like the U.K. but prefer the U.S. Cover.

<3 Happy Reading
