US Vs. UK: Glow Covers

US // UK

I'll admit I'm not a big fan of the UK cover for Glow. I think the US cover is much more subtle and eye-catching, and I like that the model isn't the central focus. Both covers scream sci-fi, which is good, though I think the UK one gets that point across a bit better. Both fonts are really nice and quite similar, but the US placement wins for me. The US cover also reminds me by Matched and Crossed by Ally Condie, which is never a bad thing!

I don't know if it's just me, but recently I seem to be going off covers with people on them. They're just not doing it for me these days, and I'm guessing it's because I've seen so many. Still, there are one or two coming out that I can't wait to see in person... watch this space!

I like the UK version :) Mostly, because - like you said - it captures the sci-fi aspect better. Not only is there a galaxy overlay on the girl but the eclipse on the O of Glow ticks a box for me too.

Know what you mean about people on covers, I think there's been a trend in having a young girl in a prom-like dress feature...I don't mind so much...not yet, but by there being so many covers doing the same thing it does make others stand out.

I like both covers but I hate the feel of the UK one, I think it's that flock material and it just goes through me. It's not good when you work in a bookshop!

I like the US cover best because of the contrast of the deep black with center object that draws me into it with its glow. But, like KR, I like the eclipse on the UK cover and the use of similar color themes.

I have the UK version but it's US all the way for me, it's much prettier!

While I love the eclipse in the UK cover, I am going with the US one. It portrays the quality of actually glowing literally. Also, the vertical title is new and refreshing. Not many YA covers are like that. The sillhouette-ish background is cool because it adds more focus on the title glow and the orb thingy with the girl in it. Love both covers but US wins for me!

I really like how unique the US cover is, but there is something eye catching about the UK version. I love the purple/black colors of both, though!

I'm the same - don't like people on the cover of books. The US one is awesome and to me seems much more Sci Fi. Shame I'll never get to see it in person.

I like the UK one best. I think I would like the US one better if it didn't have the picture in the middle of the 'O'

I like the US cover better. Cleaner, simple and not overdone.... like the glittery covers you see everywhere and the girls profile that seems to be on every book lately. :)

I really like the US cover - I feel it has broader appeal that the UK one.

I'm not a big fan of UK covers, but this time for me the UK cover it's better. I think the font and the light represents better sci-fi. As you say the US it's a lot alike Matched and I don't like that 2 different sagas have similar covers

I love the UK one the best. It's so pretty! Although I do get what you mean about putting models on the cover as it can mess up what you think the character looks like.

I loved the UK one. I recently read the book so now I am much more in a UK's favor. Earlier I was with US one.
