Review:

Hog in the Fog is a great little story about Harry the hog who goes missing, and his shrew friend Lil tasked with finding him. Lil gets together a bunch of animals to help look for Harry, and together they set out to rescue him in time for tea. Aww!

There's quite a lot of text in this picture book, more than usual I think. It's good though because it'll introduce a wide range of words to young readers, like 'teetering' and 'barnacle'. I'm sure there'll be many a reader asking for clarification as to what certain words mean, which can only be a good thing when it comes to their English lessons!

Lil is my favourite character, simply because she's small and she's a shrew. I've always had a liking for tiny creatures, so books like this suit me perfectly. Harry is lovely too, though he's MIA for most of the story. His friendship with Lil is so cute and a totally unlikely pairing - a shrew and a hog. Who'd have thought it?!

Eunyoung Seo's illustrations are fantastic too, especially little Lil. She looks so kind all the time while Harry looks ecstatically happy. This book is a lot of fun, particularly for younger readers and parents who enjoy their picture books. My dad even read this and laughed his head off - result!
