Get ready for boy dilemmas, friendship dramas and madcap grannies - Faith is back! Will Faith make up her mind between the gorgeous Finn and the lovely Ethan and manage to get herself a real-life boyfriend? Will Mrs Cox finally get off her case and recognise Faith's true genius? Will Faith's family learn how to be normal, non-embarrassing people? Will Faith and her BFFs beat the world record for number of biscuits eaten in a minute? All these questions and more will be answered in the hilarious next installment of this brilliant new series from Candy Harper!
Have a Little Faith was one of my favourite reads of 2013, and I've been eagerly awaiting Keep the Faith ever since. Candy Harper's writing is hilarious, very reminiscent of early Louise Rennison, and I'm sure Faith is somewhat of a hero for teenagers of today. She's completely mad, boy-obsessed and basically your typical fifteen-year-old. She's a great friend too, though sometimes she does get a bit wrapped up in her own life!
In Keep the Faith, we join Faith after the conclusion of the first book, where she's now kinda going out with Finn (the most popular boy in school, maybe ever) and still undecided about her feelings for Ethan (less popular, much nicer). Her best friends are also going through some serious boy drama, all of which seems like it's the be all and end all of their world. Ah, to be fifteen again!
I said in my review of Have a Little Faith that I think Faith and I would be friends if she existed, and I still stand by that. She has my sense of humour, and she's so deadpan. It's brilliant. She makes her school days so much more fun than they should be, and I'm sure all her teachers are counting down the days until she leaves, hopefully without accidentally blowing anything up in the process. I can't imagine what it would be like if Faith and British book royalty Georgia Nicolson ever met... hilarity would ensue, that's for sure.
Keep the Faith is a strong sequel to Have a Little Faith, continuing Faith's hilarious diary entries and misled outlook on the world of romance. If you're a fan of books like Angus, Thongs and Full-Frontal Snogging, My Desperate Love Diary and Weirdos vs. Quimboids, then this series is the one for you. Candy Harper is a fantastically funny new UK author, and I can't wait to read more from her and Faith. Roll on book three!
