Review: Knightmare - Damsel Disaster! by Peter Bently
Publisher: Stripes Publishing
Released: August 4th, 2014
A wealthy princess is visiting the kingdom in search of a husband, and Sir Percy has a plot up his sleeve to see off the other potential suitors. As usual, Cedric has a key part to play in his master's plan. Ugh! Dressing up as a maiden in silk bloomers wasn't quite what he had in mind when he signed up to be a squire.
This third book in the Knightmare series is equally as mad, funny and enjoyable as Life Stinks! and Feast Fight!. It's fast-paced, well illustrated and reads like watching a slapstick comedy if it was set in a castle and featured knights and armour. Poor Sir Percy the Proud just can't get a break!
Just when you thought things couldn't get any worse for Sir Percy and Cedric the Squire, a love potion stirs up some trouble and almost leaves the Castle Bombast team imprisoned by a princess! Things never run smoothly for this motley crue but, thanks to the addition of pink frilly dresses and a dodgy pie, it's even worse this time around.
Damsel Disaster! is the perfect book for anyone with a sense of humour. There are jokes on almost every page, a cast of nutty memorable characters and a genuinely amusing look at the life of a knight. 8+ readers will love this series, especially if they like their books to be more on the silly side. Damsel Disaster! will make even the most reluctant reader enjoy books, and that's what this writing lark is all about, after all. Three cheers for Peter Bently and Sir Percy the Proud!
