This book is lovely from start to finish, showing a real love of life and all that Earth has to offer. I've personally never read a picture book based on a song, so it's something new to me - it's a fantastic idea and what a classic song to choose, too. I enjoyed reading the author note at the end, which explains a little about why illustrator Tim Hopgood chose to use this song and it's incredibly famous lyrics.
Each illustration in this book is vibrant and eye-catching, depicting a little boy experiencing all the wonders of the world. From roses to trees to blue skies and rainbows, What a Wonderful World shows it all in technicolor, with truly great pictures sure to delight any younger reader lucky enough to own this book.
I'd forgotten just how good the song 'What a Wonderful World' is, but I've now had a gentle reminder after reading this book. It's made me remember just how much good stuff there is in the world, and how we should all take the time to appreciate it a bit more. It's a great concept and a great book!
